Sergio Ramos’s celebration after scoring fourth goal against Leganes.
Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modrić has been named UEFA Men’s Player of the Year for 2017/18.
Zinedine Zidane has ended his time as coach of Real Madrid after playing a fundamental part in one of the club’s most successful eras. On the 4th January 2016 he took over the team and in two years and five months at the helm he has clinched 9 titles as Real Madrid coach: 3 Champions Leagues, 2 Club World Cups, 2 UEFA Super Cups, 1 LaLiga title and 1 Spanish Super Cup.
As well as the trophies, the coach also broke several records. He has the best record of any Real Madrid coach in the first 70 games (51 wins, 14 draws and 5 defeats), with him at the helm, the team broke a Spanish record for consecutive games scoring (73) and the most games unbeaten (40). Most importantly, he is the only manager to win 3 European Cups in a row.
Very few sports personalities can claim to have won the European Cup as both player and coach, and at Real Madrid only he and Miguel Muñoz managed to do it. Zidane is leaving after 149 games as Real Madrid manager, overseeing 104 wins, the last of those saw him win the Decimotercera for all madridistas. Thank you, Zizou.
